Lord Michael Williams

Lord Michael Williams talked about “Lebanon and the UN After the 2006 War”. Lord Michael Williams was the UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon from 2008 to 2011 appointed by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. He will offered his perspectives on the latest developments in the region, especially relating to Lebanon. Lord Williams is very familiar with the Middle East, having also served as UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, and the Secretary-General’s Special Adviser on the situation in the Middle East, before his appointment as the UK’s Special Representative for the Middle East. During his distinguished diplomatic career, Mr Williams also served as Special Advisor to two United Kingdom Foreign Secretaries, Robin Cook (1999-2001) and Jack Straw (2001-2005). He is now a member of the UK House of Lords, International Trustee of the BBC and distinguished Visiting Fellow at Chatham House.The dinner was held in the Chelsea Rooms of the Sloane Club, 52 Lower Sloane Street, London SW1W 8BS
