The Challenges of Lebanon: the Future Middle East
1997
At the 1997 British Society for Middle East Studies (BRISMES) International Conference on Middle Eastern Studies, the Centre held a seminar on 'The Challenges of Lebanon: the Future Middle East'. Chaired by Dr Barbara Roberson, the following presentations were given:

In March 1991 the Centre for Lebanese Studies and the Oxford Arab Committee jointly organised a one-day informal seminar at St Antony's College, Oxford. The meeting grouped a small number of Palestinians and Lebanese to discuss the future of Palestinian-Lebanese relations.

Lebanon Rediscovered
October 2002
Introduced by Lord John Julius Norwich and entitled 'Lebanon Rediscovered' at the Royal Geographical Society. Serena Fass, the well known author, photographer and traveler, first visited Lebanon in 1967, and again in 1970 and returned for the first time in 2002. Her illustrated lecture was an account of her most recent visit up and down the country. Ticket sales benefited the Garden of Forgiveness project in Beirut, which is being created in the very heart of Beirut's Solidere district. The Garden will contribute to the revitalisation and healing of this previously war-torn area.

The Dynamics of US Policy in Lebanon, 1940-50
1990
In 1990 the Centre organised a workshop on the 1958 crisis in Lebanon. The workshop, held at the Middle East Centre was chaired by Dr Roger Owen. Dr Irene Gendzier and Mr Michel van Leuuw gave presentations and Dr Carolyn Gates was the discussant.
Other activities

The Lebanese Forum
1988-89
In 1988-89 the Centre organised a series of meetings to discuss the Ta'if Agreement. The meetings, subsequently called the Lebanese Forum, were held on Saturdays and consisted of round-table discussions. This series of meetings over several months, culminated with a large meeting at University of London. Academicians, politicians, writers, researchers, students and many members of the CLS were in attendance.
