CLS scholarships scheme is designed to assist graduates by means of scholarships for Master’s study in Lebanon and the UK.
We see the scholarship scheme as a natural part of our mission to generate research knowledge that benefits Lebanon and its people. Our aim is to provide policymakers with the best possible foundations for decision-making, and to inspire new thinking and new solutions. In doing this we recognise the need to support and nurture Lebanon’s own research talent.
The scholarships are aimed firstly at highly talented individuals who have achieved outstanding results in gaining their first degree in Lebanon, and who now wish to study at Master’s level in Lebanon or the UK. The areas of study are broadly defined by the social sciences, with application to Lebanon’s own needs. These areas can include all disciplines capable of shaping public policy towards health, education, and the environment and their associated legal rights. To the extent possible they should be aligned with CLS’s own present priorities, which are those of social protection overall. Currently, we are focusing on (i) unions and social movements;(ii) social protection;(iii) injustice in education; (iv) disability studies and (v) mental health but are open to other disciplines contributing to the aims of social protection and public benefit.
The scholarships for study in Lebanon and the United Kingdom will cover fees either fully or in part, according to need.
We welcome your application if :
- You normally live in Lebanon.
- You have achieved an outstanding grade in your first (Bachelors) degree.
- You have a clear idea of why you have chosen to study for a Master’s and what benefit you feel you can bring to social and economic development of Lebanon and its region. This should be explained in an 800-word personal statement you will provide in your application.
